Abdullah Abdullah

Abdullah Abdullah, born on September 5, 1960, in Kabul, Afghanistan, is an Afghan politician who served as the Chief Executive of Afghanistan from 2014 to 2020. He was a close aide to Ahmad Shah Massoud and served as Foreign Minister under President Karzai. Abdullah ran for president in 2009 and 2014, losing both times in disputed elections. In the 2014 election, a power-sharing deal was brokered that created the Chief Executive position for him. He oversaw the peace negotiations with the Taliban during the Doha talks. After the Taliban takeover in 2021, Abdullah went into exile. He is known for his moderate political stance and his commitment to peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan.
