Biography
Omar al-Mukhtar (1862-1931) was a Libyan resistance leader who fought against Italian colonial rule. Born in Zanzur, he led the Senussi resistance against the Italian occupation for nearly 20 years. He was captured and executed by the Italians in 1931, becoming a symbol of Libyan resistance and national identity.
